Background Information

Animation is literally a moment of cartoon magic captured in an enduring art form. Our belief is that collecting animation art should be fun as well as educational. We at Binky’s World of Animation Art will try to display as much of our artwork as possible on this website, with updates monthly. If you have any questions about collecting or are searching for a particular character, we will do our best to help you find it. Just email us. So, when you are ready to buy your first piece of animation or just adding to your collection, think of Binky’s World of Animation Art. Whether you buy from us or anywhere else, always find out as much information about the piece as possible; then, in the end, you are comfortable and happy with your choice. Buys what appeals to you - choose with your heart.

I have been in the animation art field since 1991 having first worked for a gallery in Santa Monica California. Being with this gallery gave me the chance to learn the animation business from the inside. It also afforded me the opportunity to run and treat the gallery as if it was my own. In doing so I organized and hosted events which have now become landmark in the industry. I also realized there was very little information about the creators themselves of this enchanting art form, and I was compelled to educate the general public as to the faces behind the characters, as well as the history of animation art. They inspired me to write a book on collecting animation, which will be completed March of 1998, and provide the reader with detailed information that is vital when making a purchase of animation art whether for investment or aesthetic reasons.

The most significant contribution to these artist was the developing of a mini Mann Chinese Theater which can be seen at the Vintage Animation Gallery on 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California. By incorporating the hand prints and signatures of the pioneering animators from the animation industry into cement. This in itself had never been done and I felt was long over due. There had to be something more concrete ( no pun intended ) to pay tribute to these artist’s. From conceiving this I was able to meet and interview with this extraordinary group of people, which changed my life. These men, while into their 80’s & 90’syears of age were more like teenagers with wide eyed expectations of the world then senior citizens. That is why I consider their gift to us to be "The Fountain of Youth".

There was also a special tribute dinner which I organized and was hosted by the gallery owner. This tribute became a reunion for these men, some had not seen their peers in nearly fifty years. It was a wonderful experience to see this group of prankster still playing jokes on one another.

In 1995 I left there and began working with independent galleries and collectors. Then establishing Binky’s World of Animation Art, and developing "Laughter Ever After" a special photographic limited edition.
